Savile Row Projects Showroom Lighting Design Project
Savile Row Projects in Clerkenwell are specialist suppliers of sound-attenuating partitioning systems and much of their space is an acoustic studio designed to assist clients buying system partitioning. But as the space also includes acoustic, fabric display, and an office area, the lighting design was challenging.
The fabric display and acoustic studio demanded a warm, luxurious atmosphere, whereas the office area called for lighting more appropriate to the needs of staff. Our solution was a scheme using 3000k warm white lighting that made the display space feel luxurious and the workspace feel comfortable.
Being situated on the lower ground floor, the space lacks natural daylight, but we compensated for this by carefully positioning the linear LED so that light washed down the vertical surfaces, making the entire space feel bright. The multi-level ceiling presented a particular challenge in the office area, where uniform lighting above the desks was essential. We overcame this issue with thin, continuous lines of light recessed into the lower areas of the ceiling and suspended to the same height from the higher areas.
The open-plan space is divided by glazed-partition meeting rooms. And we maintained a design continuity between them with ceiling-mounted linear LED washing down the perimeter walls. But through the design of the decorative lighting, we gave each room a unique feel.
For example, in one room, we made a simple feature of the coffee table, with a ceiling-recessed LED light sheet of the same dimensions as the table directly below it.
What the project achieved was a space lit to make an immediate impact on visiting clients while still being comfortable for staff using it day to day.
