LewesLight 2017
We were thrilled to be part of LewesLight festival this year. It was brilliant to see everyone's concepts realised. The students from Sussex Downs Colledge made it all possible along with the lighting equipment kindly supplied to us by the manufacturers. Thanks Architainment for providing the equipment for our installation.
We chose to illuminate Harvey's Brewery, synonymous the world over with Sussex and a true icon of the Lewes skyline, dominating the northern approaches to the town, as it has since it’s foundation on the banks of the river Ouse in 1790.
Over two hundred years later, Harveys still produces beer using the age old traditional techniques that make it’s Best Bitter a giant amongst beers, with the brewery now considered by locals as the beating heart of Lewes.
The Brewery building has been carefully maintained throughout it’s history. To emphasize the ale production, the chimney stack is uplighted in red light, to recreate the concept of fire. A soft blue light is washed across the water tower, to strike a contrast been the red light of the firing chimney and the blue light of the water.
